2014 Acura ILX review,changes

Acura ILX is a compact luxury sedan with enviable number of standard features, which expands even more for 2014 model year. Standard safety features for 2014 ILX include antilock brakes, stability and traction control, front seat side airbags, side curtain airbags and active front head restraints, while rearview camera remains optional. This luxury sedan comes in four trim levels: 2.0, 2.0 with Premium package, 2.0 with Technology package and 2.4 with Premium package. 2014 Acura ILX follows the path of its predecessors regarding highly equipped base level.

2014 Acura ILX Side

2014 Acura ILX is available with three powertrains. Its base engine is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder which delivers 150 horsepower and 140 pound-feet of torque. Only transmission choice available is a five-speed automatic. 2014 Acura ILX with this engine under the hood has fuel economy ratings at 24 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway. Another engine available is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder that produces 201 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque and mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. Lack of automatic transmission choice can be downside for many buyers. Fuel economy ratings for ILXs with this engine stand at 22 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. Third option is the ILX Hybrid with 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine and an integrated hybrid electric system with a CVT transmission. 2014 ILX Hybrid has the best fuel economy of all ILXs included in the offer. It is rated at 39 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway, and has combined power output of 111 horsepower.

Like we mentioned earlier 2014 Acura ILX’s list of standard equipment is rather long, and for the base 2.0 and 2.4 includes 17-inch wheels, full power accessories, keyless ignition, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, leather upholstery, a sunroof, an eight-way power driver seat, heated front seats, active noise cancellation, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 5-inch information screen, Bluetooth connectivity, a seven-speaker sound system with a CD player, a USB/iPod audio interface, satellite radio and Pandora radio smartphone app integration. Premium models add xenon headlights, fog lamps, a rearview camera and an auto-dimming rearview mirror, while The Technology trim add on larger screen, voice commands and a 10-speaker ELS surround-sound audio system.
